I am so behind on this blog post, but I finally have time to recap my 2nd trimester.
When they say that 2nd trimester is a breeze, that sure is the truth. 2nd trimester was so easy and it goes by SO fast. 1st trimester wasn’t so bad for me as I didn’t have many symptoms. The main change for me in 2nd trimester was less gagging which made me feel a whole lot better. The only down side for 2nd trimester was more frequent heartburn. It isn’t too bad and it’s bearable, but heartburn did bother me, so I took some TUMS. TUMS is a fast relief medicine, so I later started using omeprazole to subside the symptoms. Omeprazole is a game changer because it lasts for 2 to 3 days, so you don’t need to take it as often compared to using TUMS.
Around 2nd trimester is usually when women start to see stretch marks. I got a few, but they were very light as I have been using this cream for any future stretch marks I would get. They say that stretch marks are related to genetics, but I wasn’t so concerned as weight loss/weight gain caused stretch marks in my body already. I think that no matter what, just use a cream that you are comfortable with because I personally don’t believe stretch marks are preventable. The stretch mark cream I use is to help lighten it up should I get any and so far, my stretch marks do not appear dark. I’m sure it can change after giving birth, but so far I like the cream I’ve been using.
You literally feel the best during your 2nd trimester. Being that this is my first pregnancy, I started to form my bump around 15/16 weeks. I love the feeling of having my bump grow each week and it made it easier for me to start my #bumpstyle. I wore a lot of dresses during this time and I absolutely love body con dresses. It’s perfect for your growing belly as body con dresses will stretch along with it. I will link my most worn dresses below the post.
I also started to wear maternity leggings and I did a lot of research on what’s best. It’s all going to depend on what you prefer, but I like one that goes over the belly as some leggings suck your belly in. I want to show my belly.. not constrict it, so I didn’t like my regular leggings that were pre-pregnancy. My favorite ones are these and they are only $35, so it won’t hurt your wallet. I am on the shorter side, so I would just cuff my leggings if they are too long on me.
During this time, you also start to begin to feel your baby’s kicks and nudges while in the womb. It’s a strange feeling in the beginning as I didn’t know what to expect, but I would say that it is a soothing experience and it makes you giddy. I didn’t feel any until 20 weeks and they become more frequent once you are more familiar with what it feels like.
To me, 2nd trimester is when you feel your absolute best during your pregnancy. If you are currently pregnant and aren’t feeling great in your 1st trimester, just wait until 2nd trimester because it all changes. All these body changes start to begin and it’s truly amazing to know that a growing baby is inside your belly. It’s a truly empowering experience that I am blessed to have.

Taylor
